is a workshop for beginners and intermediate adult painters focused on
the fundamentals in painting with oil and acrylics. 8 students per
class. Art instructor Bob Nielsen will teach you tried and true
techniques to make a stunning masterpiece over 8 weeks. A supply list

Robert Hamilton: New La Citadelle Artist

Robert Hamilton, local artist from Lake Barrington, comes on display at La Citadelle Gallery in The Arboretum of South Barrington. Robert is a retired banker who creates gorgeous whimsical and playful large scale paintings.
Workshop with Autistic Students
Turning Pointe Summer Camp
On August 2nd 2011, the president of La Citadelle art NFP was invited to participate and help "Turning Pointe" Summer Camp with their art project .
Sonja Dickon Bracks, Behavior Specialist and autistic consultant included a workshop hosted by La Citadelle art NFP to improve the function and developing behavior
of 8 students. The art project invoked student's creativity and use of different art technique in making a beautiful collage called "The Sea Creatures".
Barrington Park District

Free and Open to the PublicThis year , the Barrington Park District added a new special event, Art in the Park , to the summer season schedule.
On a very warm day, July 17th, children from the Barrington community were invited to come to the Park to create art and craft projects.
La Citadelle Art NFP was a sponsor and held a booth for the kids to come by and create a large "community" fish painting. It was a great pleasure working with the children and exploring together their artistic talents and creative little minds!

Vladimir Dunjic is an artist whose extraordinary sensibility permeates through his brush strokes and enters your soul. He likes to paint female figures, concentrating on the beauty of their eyes. He has been commissioned to create backdrops for fashion shows where he painted female faces hovering above water. The imagery is haunting.

On Exhibition are 3 of Alex's paintings, using mixed media (oil, wax and oil-pastels).
They are entitled "Healing Waves", "Healing Bell" and "Take me to the Healing Planet".
We chose to present these paintings at the Rehabilitation Center because of
Alex's unique life experience and her successful fight with cancer.
We believe these paintings will help to understand and encourage the healing process.

Bobi Vidovic's Original Dreamy Chicago painting uses layers of Oil to create nuance and depth, while his palette knife technique builds strong lines to represent the beautiful architecture of the Windy City.
Bobi is a resident artist of La Citadelle NFP and loves to paint contemporary interpretations of the Chicago skyline.

Silhouettes and Reflections of Chicago are captured in Bobi Vidovic's original oil on canvas palette knife paintings.
La Citadelle Art in association with Chicago Artists Month and the Office of Cook County present the exhibit: Chicago Urban View, where Vidovic recreates the Chicago skyline with clean linear forms and subtle nuances of color.
His inspiration comes from Chicago architecture, and if you look closely, you can see a hint of structure and relief in the layers of his paintings.
Autism in April - Expressions through Art

The exhibition presents a collection of paintings made by Joe Rosenbloom, who is autistic, and a collection of photographs by Thomas Balsamo used in the book Souls: Beneath and Beyond Autism by Sharon Rosenbloom.
There will be a reception held at the Barrington Library with both artists where you can stop by, chat and view their works.
Joe Rosenbloom was born with autism. Five years ago, he started to paint with Vesna Boscovic, preseident of La Citadelle Art NFP, where his painting began to reveal a wealth of imagery and emotions. Later, he worked with artist Bobi Vidovic who showed him more contemporary painting techniques. Rosenbloom's paintings capture the strength of his feelings hidden under the cover of autism, and help to reveal the true nature of this commonly misunderstood disorder.
Thomas Balsamo developed his love of photography at the early age of 10 after receiving his first camera. His ability to photographically capture people became a career in 1978. Since then his work has been featured on CNN, CBS, WGN and WLS television, published in Professional Photographer among other publications, and in 2003 he received the Autism Society of America's "Literary Work of the Year" for his photography and co-creation of Souls: Beneath and Beyond Autism.
